We are seeking passionate individuals to join Mercy Street as volleyball Coaches for our spring league. As a volunteer coach, you will have the unique opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of young athletes while fostering the fundamentals of volley and the fundamentals of the Christian faith. Coaches make a huge impact, ensuring each participant has an experience that is fun, safe, excellent, relational, and Christ-centered.

Divisions/Age Groups: Minis (5-6 years old) Minors (7-11 years old) Majors (12-16 years old)

Time Commitment:

PRACTICES begin the week of March 24th, 2025.

● Practice days and times will be selected by YOU the coach. Practices last one hour, typically beginning at either 5:30, 6:30, or 7:30pm. Practices are primarily held Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings.

● Each team is allowed two practice slots (one on-field, one batting cage) per week, a maximum of two hours dedicated practice time.

● GAMES - Every Saturday Starting Beginning of March,2025 — end of April, 2025

● 6-Game Spring schedule. May include weeks with multiple games. Mercy Street reserves Friday nights as slots for additional games, rain makeups, etc. as-needed.

● Game schedules will be released upon completion of league registration

Coaches are expected to commit to regular practice sessions, as well as attending scheduled games.

Responsibilities:

Coaching and Mentoring: Lead and guide a team of young volleyball players through structured practices and game sessions. Teach fundamental volleyball skills, strategies, and techniques while encouraging teamwork, discipline, and personal growth.

Skill Development: Plan and conduct practice sessions to enhance players' volleyball skills, including serving, passing, blocking, and setting. Provide constructive feedback and encouragement to help players improve their abilities and build self-confidence.

Spiritual Guidance: Incorporate Christian values and principles into coaching sessions, emphasizing character development, integrity, respect, and the importance of faith in sports and everyday life.

Game Management: Attend scheduled games and oversee players' participation, ensuring fair play, good sportsmanship, and adherence to league rules. Encourage players to compete with integrity and display grace under pressure.

Communication: Maintain regular communication with players, parents, league officials, and fellow coaches to provide updates, share important information, and address any concerns or inquiries.

Qualifications:

● A genuine passion for volley and a desire to positively impact young athletes' lives.

● Prior experience in coaching or playing volleyball is preferred, but not mandatory.

● Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively connect with players, parents, and league officials.

● Strong organizational skills to plan practices and manage game schedules efficiently.

● Knowledge of Christian values and a willingness to integrate them into coaching sessions.
