We are excited that you are interested in Mercy Street's 818 Afterschool Group Mentor opportunity!

The Group Facilitator will provide a stimulating and enriching learning/developmental environment for our students. Facilitators will play a vital role in fostering a positive and supportive atmosphere where students can explore their interests, develop new skills, and build meaningful connections with their peers. You will work with small groups of students to deliver a variety of engaging and interactive activities that align with program curriculum and objectives. Your creativity, passion for helping impart wisdom, and ability to connect with students will make a significant impact on their academic, social, and spiritual development.

Responsibilities:

Conduct engaging and interactive activities for groups of students

Facilitate group discussions, promote collaborative learning, and encourage active participation from students

Adapt activities and instruction to meet the diverse needs and learning styles of students

Provide individualized support and guidance to students as they work through activities

Monitor student progress

Assist with ensuring students have their snacks/meal and materials

Help organize and plan out activities and objectives to use from an already existing curriculum.

Share testimonies and/or facilitate discussions

Maintain a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment for all students

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent

Some college experience

Experience working with children in an educational setting

Understanding of child development and learning principles

Ability to create and implement engaging and age-appropriate activities

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Patience, flexibility, and adaptability

Enthusiasm for working with children and a passion for teaching

818 Afterschool Group Mentoring for Middle School: Every Monday from 3:30pm-5:30pm (40-50 students)

818 Afterschool Group Mentoring for High School: Every Thursday from 4pm-6pm (20-30 students)
